Why We Joined
Our decision to partner with ABC was driven by a genuine desire to understand the evolving Albury/Wodonga business community, gain insight into the current business climate, and ensure our work continues to align with what local leaders and teams truly need.
We first began working in the
Albury/Wodonga region back in 2017
Over time we’ve witnessed remarkable growth, innovation, and resilience. Joining ABC strengthens our ability to contribute meaningfully to that journey, ensuring our leadership and communication programs continue to support the region’s ambitions for economic growth, environmental stewardship, social wellbeing, and community leadership needs of regional businesses. Shared Purpose and Alignment
Albury Business Connect’s mission is to empower local business owners and professionals which strongly aligns with our own. At time2talk Leadership, we are passionate about helping people and organisations grow, connect, and lead with confidence.
Our collaboration allows us to play an active role in supporting regional businesses with the tools, insights, and confidence to navigate change, strengthen culture, and build leadership capability from within.
We’re also fortunate to work closely with Glen and Taneesha from the ABC team, who have been fantastic partners in bringing this vision to life.
Creating Connections: Our First Event with ABC
In September, we were delighted to host our first event in partnership with ABC, an evening focused on connection, conversation, and leadership development.
To set the tone for the night, we introduced the High Quality Connections (HQC) model, developed by Professor Jane Dutton from the University of Michigan. The model explores how small, meaningful interactions at work can energise people, build trust, and strengthen relationships.
We invited attendees to try it for themselves: turning to someone they hadn’t met before, they had just two minutes to form a high-quality connection. There was a little hesitation at first but soon, the room came alive. The activity lifted the energy instantly. Throughout the rest of the evening, networking felt easier, more natural, and far more enjoyable.
Insights from the Albury/Wodonga Business Community
Through conversations that night, we gained valuable insights into what’s top of mind for local businesses. Some of the key themes that emerged included:
- Developing and supporting emerging leaders
- Transitioning team members into leadership roles
- Leveraging AI effectively within business operations
- Understanding and adapting to the current business climate in Albury/Wodonga
These insights help us better understand the region’s opportunities and challenges and in turn, design programs that meet those specific needs.
We also discovered that many attendees knew time2talk Leadership primarily for our public programs, so it was great to share more about our in-house, tailored workshops.
